SWEMARC is highlighted as a good example in a sustainability report

News: Jul 06, 2017

The Government Offices, with the support of an expert group, have produced a national report on how the Swedish government will implement Agenda 2030, as well as how to meet the global goals for sustainable development. SWEMARC has been chosen as a good example in the report.

On the 10-19 July, 2017, at the UN's High Level Policy Forum on Sustainable Development in New York, the Swedish government will report how Sweden will implement Agenda 2030 and meet the 17 global goals, both in Sweden and internationally.

Agenda 2030 and the global goals include the eradication of poverty and hunger, as well as protecting the planet, its natural resources including the ocean.

SWEMARC has been chosen as a good example in the report, as its contribution in aquaculture has the potential to radically reduce the pressure on mutual marine resources and contribute to the production of nutritious food for a growing population.

The report, which shows how Sweden will work on solutions to the challenges facing humanity, was supported by representatives from government, academy, municipalities and industry in Sweden.
